The Passat has quietly served three decades of South African company car parks, and the older ones are now cheap enough that the difference between a used part and a new one decides whether a car stays on the road. B5 and B5.5 cars share their AEB and AWT 1.8T and AWX 1.9 TDI engines with the Audi A4 of the era, which is genuinely useful when sourcing — the donor pool is twice as big as the badge suggests. Common asks on those cars are turbochargers, cam followers and timing belt-driven ancillaries, plus the multi-link front suspension arms that wear out on our roads. B6 and B7 owners come for DSG mechatronic units, 2.0 TDI injectors and EGR coolers, and the electric parking brake modules that fail with age. On B8 cars it is mostly body and lighting — LED headlamps, front bumpers, mirrors and tailgates. Always confirm sedan or Variant wagon before ordering rear-end parts, and send the engine code for anything driveline related.

Gearboxes

Turbochargers

DSG Mechatronics
Mechatronic control units for DQ200 and DQ250 boxes — the valve body, solenoids and control module in one assembly. Most DSG faults in South Africa turn out to be mechatronic, not the gearbox itself, so a used unit is often the whole repair.
Headlights
Halogen and LED headlight units, left and right. We check the lens for hazing and the mounting tabs for cracks before quoting, because a lamp with broken lugs will never sit flush no matter how good the glass looks in the photo.
Bumpers

Alternators
Alternators from 90A to 180A output, including the regulated units on start-stop models. A battery light with a low charging voltage is normally the regulator rather than the whole alternator, but a tested used unit gets the car back on the road same day.
