What happens to your car afterwards
It gets stripped properly, not crushed whole. The engine, gearbox, panels, lights, interior and electronics come off and go onto the shelves, and they end up on somebody else's Golf or Polo instead of being bought new. The shell and the rest of the metal goes for recycling.
That is also why a complete car is worth more to us than a picked-over one — and why it is worth telling us exactly what is still bolted to yours.

What kind of Volkswagens do you buy?
Accident-damaged cars, non-runners, cars with a blown engine or gearbox, high-mileage cars that are not worth fixing, and cars that have already been partly stripped. Golf, Polo, Jetta, Passat, Caddy, Tiguan, Touareg, Amarok, Transporter — if it is a VW, tell us about it.
How much is my scrap VW worth?
It depends on the model, the year, what is still on the car and what condition those parts are in. A crashed car with a good engine, box and interior is worth more to us than a stripped shell. Send us the details and a few photos and we will come back with a figure.
Does the car have to run?
No. Most of the cars we buy do not start. We are buying it for the parts that are still good, not to drive it away.
What paperwork do I need?
Your ID and the vehicle registration certificate, and the car should be in your name. If it is registered to someone else, that person needs to be part of the sale. Change of ownership has to be lodged with the licensing department so the car stops being your responsibility — we will talk you through what that means for your sale.
Will you collect the car?
Tell us where the vehicle is standing when you enquire. We are based in Lenasia South, Johannesburg, and we will tell you straight whether we can arrange collection from you or whether transport needs to be sorted from your side.
Am I committed once I ask for an offer?
Not at all. Asking costs nothing and you are free to say no. If the number does not work for you, that is the end of it.
