Catalytic Converters
Catalytic converters off VW petrol models, sold with the stamped identification number visible in the photos. Cat theft is rife in South Africa, so we only buy in stock with clean paperwork and we record the source vehicle for every unit.
DPF Filters
Diesel particulate filters for TDI models. Short-trip city driving blocks these and a used filter is only worth buying if it has been cleaned and flow-tested, so ask for the back-pressure figures before you commit to one.
Exhaust Manifolds
Cast and fabricated exhaust manifolds, including the turbo manifolds that come off TDI and TSI engines as one assembly. Cracks between the runners cause a tick that fades as the metal expands, and studs usually shear, so the whole unit is the sane buy.
Silencers
Centre and rear boxes with their pipework and hangers. Rust eats these from the inside on cars doing short coastal trips, and a straight used box off a written-off car is far cheaper than a full custom system fabricated at a fitment centre.
Downpipes
Turbo downpipes and front pipes with their flex sections and flanges. The flex joint is what splits first and it blows straight into the bulkhead, so the noise sounds far worse from inside the cabin than the damage actually is.
EGR Valves
EGR valves and coolers for TDI and TSI engines. Soot builds up until the valve sticks open, giving limp mode and heavy smoke on pull-off, and the coolers crack internally and push coolant into the inlet — both very common on South African diesels.
Lambda Sensors
Oxygen sensors from before and after the catalytic converter. A lazy pre-cat sensor quietly ruins fuel consumption without ever lighting the engine light, and the pre-cat and post-cat units have different plugs and cable lengths.
