Used VW Engine Parts for Sale

Everything that bolts to or lives inside a VW engine — heads, blocks, turbos, pumps, manifolds and mountings. Most stock is stripped from low-mileage Golf, Polo, Jetta and Tiguan units and checked for compression and oil pressure before it leaves the yard.

Engine Parts we carry

Cylinder Heads

Category browse view for VW cylinder heads — the detailed buying page lives at /cylinder-heads-for-sale/. Heads off 1.4 TSI, 1.6 MPI, 1.9 TDI and 2.0 TDI blocks. A good used head is pressure-tested, skimmed flat and free of cracks between the valve seats.

Engine Blocks

Bare and short blocks pulled from Golf, Polo, Caddy and Jetta engines that were scrapped for body damage rather than mechanical failure. Worth buying used when your bores are scored or a conrod has gone through the side of the casting.

Turbochargers

Category browse view for VW turbos — full buying detail sits at /turbochargers-for-sale/. KKK and Garrett units off TSI and TDI engines. Check shaft play by hand before fitting: any side-to-side movement in the compressor wheel means the bearings are already on the way out.

Camshafts

Inlet and exhaust camshafts, cam followers and cam pulleys for VW petrol and diesel engines. The 1.9 TDI PD cams are the ones that wear — inspect each lobe for flat spots and pitting, because a worn cam takes the followers out with it.

Crankshafts

Crankshafts for VW four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, sold with or without the main bearing shells. Look for a crank that still mikes up to standard size on every journal — anything already ground undersize limits what a machine shop can do for you later.

Oil Pumps

Oil pumps and pump chain drives for VW engines. The balance-shaft-driven pumps on early 2.0 TDI units are a known failure point, so a sound second-hand pump with an intact drive hex is a cheap way to save an engine that is still running fine.

Intake Manifolds

Inlet manifolds for VW petrol and diesel engines, including the swirl-flap manifolds fitted to 2.0 TDI and 1.4 TSI motors. Diesel manifolds carbon up badly in stop-start Joburg traffic, so a clean used one often runs better than the item you are replacing.

Timing Covers

Upper and lower timing belt covers, chain covers and their brackets. Plastic belt covers crack and go brittle with heat, and a missing one lets grit onto the belt — cheap to replace second-hand and far cheaper than the belt failure that follows.

Injectors

Diesel and direct-petrol injectors for VW engines — PD unit injectors, common-rail Bosch and Siemens items, and TSI piezo injectors. Ask for the flow-test figures: a set that has been bench-tested and balanced is worth far more than an untested pull.

HP Fuel Pumps

High pressure pumps off common-rail TDI and TSI engines, including the cam-driven HPFP on 1.4 and 2.0 TSI motors. A failing cam follower under the pump destroys the camshaft, so check the follower face on any used unit you buy.

Engine Mounts

Hydraulic and solid engine mounts, dog-bone mounts and their brackets. Collapsed mounts are the usual cause of the shudder VW owners feel through the gear lever at idle, and used brackets are handy when a corroded original snaps on removal.

Rocker Covers

Rocker and cam covers, most with the crankcase breather and oil separator built into the moulding. On TSI engines a split breather diaphragm inside the cover causes rough idle and oil consumption, which is why whole used covers move quickly.

Sumps

Oil sumps and pans, both alloy and pressed steel, with pickup pipes where available. Speed bumps and bad roads crack alloy sumps and strip drain plug threads, and a straight second-hand pan beats welding a hole shut every time.

Pistons

Pistons with rings and gudgeon pins for VW petrol and diesel engines, usually sold as matched sets of four. Buyers normally want these after one cylinder has failed, so check the ring lands and skirts on every piston in the set, not just the one you need.

Conrods

Connecting rods and rod bolts for VW four-cylinder engines. Rods are the first thing to bend when a diesel hydrolocks or a timing belt lets go, so we sell them singly as well as in sets — always have a used rod checked for straightness before fitting.

Vacuum Pumps

Tandem and cam-driven vacuum pumps that feed the brake booster on TDI and TSI engines. When one fails the pedal goes hard and the car becomes genuinely dangerous to stop, so it is a part people replace the same week it starts leaking.
